FastGene Blue/Green LED Transilluminator XL
Log in for pricing
A powerful transillumintor with Blue/Green technology for DNA/RNA visualisation in agarose gels. Compatible with green and red DNA stains. Includes a pair of FastGene amber googles.
The use of UV transilluminators for the detection of DNA or RNA in agarose gels is still very common, although it is well known that light of shorter wavelengths damages DNA more quickly. This is not ideal especially if the separated DNA should be used in downstream experiments like cloning or sequencing. Just seconds of UV light exposure is enough to significantly reduce cloning efficiency.
In contrast to UV instruments, Blue/Green LED technology emits light at a much higher wavelength, which translates to less damaging light. It also exhibits superior sensitivity with green dyes, and comparable to UV with red dyes. The FastGene Blue/Green LED Transilluminator XL combined with an amber filter goggle or an amber filter screen enables an easy removal of bands from agarose gels.
