Grapevine Berry Inner Necrosis Virus RT-LAMP Detection Kit

Grapevine Berry Inner Necrosis Virus (GINV) is a recently identified virus (Trichovirus necroacini) that infects grapevines and can cause leaf mottling and shoot abnormalities, reduce vine vigour, delay budburst and lead to smaller berries with internal necrosis and therefore affecting fruit quality and yield. The virus spreads mainly through infected propagation material and the grape Erineum mite (Colomerus vitis). In Australia, GINV was first confirmed in late 2025–early 2026 and has been detected in Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia, primarily in table grape varieties and rootstocks. While its full distribution and economic impact are still being investigated, there is currently no cure, so management focuses on using certified planting material, controlling mite vectors, and maintaining vineyard biosecurity.

Loop-Mediated Isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a molecular biology technique that copies DNA or RNA at a single, constant temperature. By eliminating the rapid heat cycling required by traditional PCR, this method relies on specialized strand-displacement polymerases to unzip and replicate genetic material.

This biological approach removes the need for expensive, bulky thermal cyclers, allowing assays to run on simple, low-cost heating equipment. Delivering highly sensitive results in just 20 to 30 minutes, isothermal amplification provides a fast, affordable, and exceptionally portable solution for field testing and decentralized point-of-care diagnostics.

The Grapevine Berry Inner Necrosis Virus RT-LAMP Detection Kit simplifies detection of Grapevine Berry Inner Necrosis Virus nucleic acid by amplifying target RNA at a constant temperature.
