The Genie III is a compact, lightweight and robust instrument suitable for use in the field or laboratory. It was specifically designed to run any isothermal amplification (LAMP) methods that employs target detection by fluorescence measurement. This instrument is an evolution of the preveious Optigene LAMP instrument, the dual-block Genie II.
This instrument has been specifically developed for outdoor use with weather-proofing (IP60) and portability the primary design objectives. This small, hand-held device features a single heating block, taking the same 8-microtube strip developed for Genie II. Unlike the single channel fluorescence measurement arrangement in Genie II, Genie III has a two-colour fluorescence excitation and detection system.
The instrument boasts low power requirements and includes a rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery. The Genie III is controlled from a large LCD display with resistive touch screen that can be operated while wearing protective gloves. From this interface, the instrument can be set to run any thermal profile required for isothermal amplification.
Real-time temperature and fluorescence data is displayed graphically and in real-time during a run and all the data is held in the instruments large internal FLASH memory. This data is internally stored and can be reviewed on the high-resolution display at any time after the run has finished or uploaded to a PC via a USB link, bluetooth, or WiFi connection.
The Genie III also features GPS connectivity for geo-tagging data if required.
For in-field deployment, portable car chargers, robust road and travel cases, and additional accessories are avaliable for the Optigene Genie workflow.
