Helicobacter spp. LAMP Detection Kit

Helicobacter species are common bacterial pathogens of laboratory mice and can colonise the intestinal tract, liver, and stomach. Species such as Helicobacter hepaticus, H. bilis, H. typhlonius, and H. rodentium are frequently detected in research colonies and may cause hepatitis, typhlocolitis, inflammatory bowel disease–like lesions, and reduced reproductive performance, particularly in immunocompromised mice. In Australia, Helicobacter spp. infections have been reported in laboratory mouse colonies, as in other countries, and are considered important agents in laboratory animal health monitoring due to their effect on animal welfare and potentially influence research outcomes. Consequently, routine health surveillance and biosecurity measures are commonly used to detect and control Helicobacter spp. infections in Australian laboratory animal facilities.

Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) is a molecular biology technique that copies DNA or RNA at a single, constant temperature. By eliminating the rapid heat cycling required by traditional PCR, this method relies on specialized strand-displacement polymerases to unzip and replicate genetic material.

This biological approach removes the need for expensive, bulky thermal cyclers, allowing assays to run on simple, low-cost heating equipment. Delivering highly sensitive results in just 20 to 30 minutes, isothermal amplification provides a fast, affordable, and exceptionally portable solution for field testing and decentralized point-of-care diagnostics.

The Helicobacter spp. LAMP Detection Kit simplifies detection of Helicobacter spp. nucleic acid by amplifying target DNA at a constant temperature.
